On Tuesday evening we went to the strip clubs and gave out gift bags to the dancers. Each gift bag contained a Valentine's bud vase, encouraging scripture, a bookmark that told the story of a little girl and a shiny penny vs. an old, dull penny (moral of the story is that each of us have the same value in God's eyes no matter how beat up we look/feel), an invitation to church, a number to call for prayer and chocolate candy. Thanks to Carlie and her single moms for making the penny bookmarks! It turns out that one of the single moms is a former dancer, and she got to make and pray over these bookmarks! Go, God!
It was rather uneventful so this will be shorter than usual. We met one girl who said it was her 2nd day dancing. Another girl said she had been crying just before we came in. She lives south of Houston and dances in north Houston several days a week. Her kids don't know what she does. Some of the girls said they give the gift and/or candy to their kids when they get home. They said the kids love it. Of course, they don't tell the kids where/how they got the gift.
One girl asked for prayer for her friend who has CPS involved in her life & with her kids. Another girl asked for prayer for finances. A new manager, Richard, asked for prayer for his 9-year-old niece named Leslie who was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Please say a prayer for these girls and Leslie when you think about it.
As always, thanks for your prayers & support! God is Faithful.
Piercing the Darkness,
Drenda
