Last night (1-23-07) we went to the strip clubs. As usual, it was different. Even though it was cold and raining, the first club was very busy. We took 72 tapestry bags filled with either a New Testament or tract, a business card or flyer inviting them to church, the "Need Prayer? Call ___" pen, and chocolate candy. First Timers Tammy, Amanda and Lisa joined the veterans Sybil, Nancy, Norma, Ann, Bill, Wes and me.

At the first club, a manager greeted us at the door and said he hadn't seen us in a long time and had been missing us. I had never seen him before but thanked him and told him it was good to see him. One of the ladies asked him if we could go in, he said, "I would never think of stopping you. Go right ahead." This was probably one of the busiest nights for this club that I can remember -- lots of girls and patrons milling around. Because they were so busy, we didn't get to spend a lot of time talking to anyone in particular. We went into the dressing room where even more girls were. One asked which church we were from. We told her about both churches. Ann told a girl we were giving her a bag because we loved her. She was shocked. She said, "But you're a CHURCH. You shouldn't even be in here!" Funny how strippers and church people sometimes think alike. Glad the Lord doesn't think that way and still pursues us no matter what ditch, gutter, highway/byway, strip club or church we've ended up in.

James (the alcoholic bouncer) was fired and probably won't be hired back. I wasn't given any details, but they said they stay in touch with him, and he's doing okay. Ann talked with Dahlia and asked about Anna (the Israeli dancer we met in December). Dahlia said she remembered that particular night because after Debs and Ann talked to Anna that night, Anna cried. She said in the 2 years she has known Anna, Anna has never cried. Dahlia hasn't seen Anna since that night. We are praying she is out of the business.

In the natural/seen realm, last night was quite uneventful. But I know our presence there was causing quite a bit of activity in the spiritual realm. We continue to plant seeds. We are believing that those seeds will take root and grow, and one day they will be ready for harvesting.

Here is a comment from one of the ladies who went last night. "I won’t ever be able to pass one of those establishments again and just feel like it is a nameless, faceless thing." I hope this is true for all of us. We can't forget that people are dying and going to hell all around us. What are we doing to stop it? I'll close with a quote that hit me in the gut the first time I read it many years ago. I've never been able to forget it:

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. –Charles H. Spurgeon
